HTC delays shipments of HTC One to some markets
Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC will postpone shipments of the HTC One to some countries. "We will start fulfilling pre-orders by end March in certain markets and will roll out to more markets as we approach April," the company told the Central News Agency but did not offer further explanations. Recently, KGI Securities said that the company is facing production bottlenecks caused by shortages of the phone's voice coil motor and compact camera module. British phone seller Clove Technology told its customers that the HTC One launch was delayed to 29 March. The original launch date was set for 15 March.

HTC plans to release a smaller version of the HTC One smartphone by August, two people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. The phone will feature a 4.3-in display, compared to the 4.7-in of the first version. HTC sales fall more than expected in Q1

HTC reported preliminary results for the first quarter showing revenues at TWD 42.8 billion, down 36.9 percent from a year earlier. The company earlier forecast sales flat to lower versus Q4, at TWD 50-60 billion. The year-on-year drop in sales accelerated from 6.5 percent in January to 48.6 percent in March. Operating profit for the three months to March fell to TWD 43 billion, and net profit came in at TWD 85 million or TWD 0.10 per share.

HTC blames One delay on components shortage

A shortage of camera parts and substandard metal casings have forced HTC to delay the launch of its One flagship smartphone, the company's chief marketing officer, Benjamin Ho told Dow Jones. Speaking to reporters for the first time since he took over the job in January, Ho said "productivity (of the parts) is improving" but it will "take time" to ramp up production. Taiwanese smartphone vendor HTC has seen pre-orders for the HTC One exceed pre-orders for the HTC Butterfly. "Pre-orders for the new HTC One greatly exceeded our expectations following the product launch last month in New York and London," the Taipei Times quotes HTC north Asia-Pacific region president Jack Tong as saying. The company is further confident that consumers will choose its new flagship product over Samsung's Galaxy S4 smartphone.

The HTC One will come to the Netherlands only in mid April, HTC told Tweakers. This is the second time the device has seen its launch date postponed. The initial release date of mid-March was delayed to the end of March. HTC gave no specific reason for the delay.

HTC has delayed the release of the HTC One smartphone in the UK until the end of March from its planned launch date of 15 March. The company said it would start fulfilling pre-orders by the end of March in some markets and offer the product in more markets as it approaches April, the company told ZDNet. HTC gave no reason for the delay. HTC confirmed to CNET Asia last week that the phone's release has been postponed until April in Singapore.

Taiwanese company HTC has announced that it will launch its new HTC One smartphone in Italy in April. The device features a 4.7-inch full HD screen (1080p), plus a series of new functions such as HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zones and HTC BoomSound. The HTC One will retail on the Italian market for EUR 699, but there will also be special offers from the main operators for post-paid customers. HTC One to begin selling at end-March in Taiwan

The HTC One phone will be available in Taiwan from the end of this month. The smartphone will retail at TWD 19,900 for the 16 GB version, TWD 21,900 for the 32 GB version, and at TWD 24,900 for the 64 GB model. Local mobile operators Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET), and Vibo Telecom will sell the phone, The Digitimes reports. HTC sales fall 44% in February

HTC reported February sales of TWD 11.37 billion, down 27 percent from January and 44 percent lower than a year earlier. In the first two months of the year, revenues fell 27.1 percent from a year earlier to TWD 26.91 billion. The smartphone maker will need to see strong initial sales of its new HTC One flagship phone launching this month in order to meet its forecast for first-quarter revenue of TWD 50-60 billion.
