
HTC forecasts Q3 shipments doubling to 13.5 mln

HTC reported a doubling in its net profit for the second quarter, to TWD 17.52 billion, up 102.9 percent from a year earlier. Revenues rose 104.1 percent to TWD 124.4 billion, the gross margin was in line with expectations at 28.8 percent, and the operating margin reached 15.5 percent, versus 15.3 a year ago. The company shipped 12.1 million phones in the quarter, up 123.7 percent from a year earlier and 24.8 percent more than in the first quarter. The average selling price improved 2.6 percent year-on-year to USD 349. For the third quarter, HTC forecast shipments of 13.5 million units, an increase of 98 percent year-on-year, while revenue should improve 80 percent to around TWD 137 billion. The gross margin is estimated at around 28 percent, and operating margin at 15 percent.
