HTC launches Flyer tablet, 2 Facebook phones

HTC unveiled its first tablet device and two smartphones dedicated to Facebook users. The HTC Flyer is a 7-inch touschscreen tablet, with 1.5GHz processor, 32GB storage, HSPA+ and the HTC Sense user interface. It will feature the OnLive online gaming service, with a wireless link to gaming on the TV set, following HTC's recent investment in OnLive. The Android device also comes with the new HTC Scribe technology for using a stylus to write on the display, and Timemark to sync audio recordings with notes taken on the device. In addition, the built-in camera supports integrated Skype video calls. The Flyer also represents the premiere of the HTC Watch service, for on-demand downloading of hundreds of movies from major studios. The HTC Flyer will be available from May. Launching in respectively June and July are the HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa phones. Both come with a special Facebook button for a direct link to the most important functions on the social network, which also lights up when there's an opportunity to share content or post an update on the site. The phones run Android 2.3 and the latest version of HTC Sense and come with a new range of Facebook widgets and Facebook integration with messaging and e-mail. The ChaCha features a 2.6-inch touchscreen and qwerty keypad, as well as 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. The Salsa comes with a 3.4-inch touchscreen and 5 megapixel camera. Recommended retail prices are EUR 299 for the ChaCha and EUR 369 for the Salsa, excluding subsidies.
