Huawei Device, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, aims to ship 60 million handsets this year, including 12 million smartphones, which would be double the volume of 2010 and the smartphone target would quadruple last year's shipments, the Digitimes reports citing the company's Taiwan sales agent. While maintaining its ODM production business, Huawei Device is also planning to grow its own-brand business this year and will advertise the brand in the China and UK markets this year and move to the US, Japan, India, and Indonesia markets in 2012. The company plans to launch eight to ten new smartphone models this year, with 80 percent being entry and mid-level handsets. In 2013, Huawei Device aims to be among the world's top five handset vendors. In Taiwan, Huawei will launch seven to eight Android handsets and one to two tablet PC devices in the second half of the year. The company aims to sell 200,000 handsets through partnerships with local mobile operators.
