Huawei revenues to rise 21% this year to USD 109 bln

Huawei rotating chairman Guo Ping expects the company's revenues to grow 21 percent to USD 109 billion this year. The chairman made the statement as part of the company’s new year’s address to employees. Smartphone shipments are forecast to pass 200 million units.

The revenue increase would be the strongest in two years, despite the company coming under scrutiny for the security of its systems.

Huawei expands share of Russian smartphone market revenue in October

The sale of Huawei and Honor smartphones made up 24.4 percent of all Russian smartphone sale revenues in October 2018, reports Vedomosti, citing sources at several mobile retailers. For Samsung, the share was 24.4 percent. Huawei's market share was 24.5 percent in September, when Samsung's was 26.1 percent.

Trump considering executive order against Huawei, ZTE - report

US President Donald Trump is mulling an executive order for the new year that would ban US companies from using telecom equipment from Huawei as well as ZTE, Reuters reported, citing three sources familiar with the situation. The US earlier warned allies about working with equipment from Huawei, including Germany, Italy and Japan. The US believes the two companies are too closely linked to the Chinese government and so pose a security risk, as their equipment could be used to spy on US citizens.

Huawei ships over 200 mln smartphones in 2018

The company has experienced serious setbacks this year, with the US saying the company's products pose a security risk, prompting many US companies to drop its phones or equipment and the recent arrest of its CFO for violating US trade sanctions. Deutsche Teleckom has said it will also be reviewing its strategy regarding Huawei. Still, Huawei remains popular in places like China and Europe. The company said that over 500 million people in over 170 countries use its phones.

Huawei defends security record as 5G business continues to grow

Huawei has defended its security record in a press conference with international journalists at its office in Dongguan, China. The meeting follows certain countries banning the company from providing network equipment due to concerns it may serve as a backdoor to Chinese intelligence agencies, as well as the arrest of the company's CFO in Canada on a US warrant for suspected trade sanction violations.

Huawei announced revenues of CNY 325.7 billion for the first half of 2017, up 15 percent from the year-earlier period. The company's operating margin reached 14 percent, up from 11 percent reported for H1 2017.

Huawei smartphone growth slows in 2017, ships 153 million devices

Huawei announced that it shipped 153 million smartphones worldwide in 2017, up from 140 million in 2016 and 100 million in 2015. At the same time its revenues rose 15 percent to CNY 600 billion, the lowest sales growth in four years, CEO Ken Hu said in a memo to staff posted on WeChat. Growth in smartphone shipments slowed to just over 9 percent, from 40 percent in 2016.
