
Huawei targets FY smartphone shipments of 60 mln

Chinese telecommunications equipment vendor Huawei Technologies is aiming to ship 60 million smartphones globally this year. This could make Huawei the third largest smartphone vendor, The Digitimes reports citing Huawei's corporate media relations vice president Scott Sykes. Of the total, 20 million will be shipped in the Chinese market. In 2011, the company shipped a total of 60 million handsets which included 20 million smartphones. The company has launched over 40 models of smartphones in global markets and has allocated a USD 200 million marketing budget which is focussed on smartphone sales promotions.
