Huawei tests 5G unmanned vehicle in smart hospital in Thailand
Huawei, in cooperation with Thailand National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Communication (NBTC) and Siriraj Hospital, have started a project dubbed ‘Unmanned Vehicle Pilot Project Driving Thai Healthcare to 5G Era’. The project aims to test an unmanned vehicle in a Thai smart hospital. The self-driving delivery vehicle leverages 5G services from Huawei to provide a contactless delivery service of medical supplies.

The service can replace manpower in logistics services as it can operate in complex environments. The autonomous car is designed to provide services while reducing workload for healthcare workers and improving patient safety. The 5G technology integration is expected to be gradually introduced in Thailand’s national health system for smart hospital transformation in near future.

 Huawei has announced a partnership with Hamad Bin Khalifa University's (HBKU) Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI)  to combat chronic diseases. QCRI will use Huawei's smart technologies to collect data that can be used on its System for Integrated Health Analytics (SIHA). By analysing information from wearable devices such as the Huawei Watch Fit and Huawei Smart Scale, SIHA lets clinicians monitor patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity.

HKT powers CUHK Medical Centre's 5G smart hospital services

HKT has signed a 5G smart hospital services contract with CUHK Medical Centre. The private hospital is now equipped with full 5G coverage. CUHK Medical Centre will use 5G services to support medical applications such as remote consultation and remote training.

Sunway, Celcom, Huawei collaborate to advance 5G in Malaysia

Sunway Berhad (Sunway), Celcom Axiata Berhad (Celcom) and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore Malaysia's first tripartite collaboration towards advancing smart township products encompassing IoT and AI, with the fifth-generation (5G) connectivity. The MoU aims to explore the potential for Celcom and Huawei to be the 5G technology enabler for Sunway Group. Sunway City Kuala Lumpur will be the "launch pad" of this ground-breaking partnership.

Thai smartphone shipments plunge nearly 30% in Q1 on COVID-19 impact

Thailand's smartphone market reached 3.6 million smartphone shipments in the first quarter of this year, which represents a decline of 29.8 percent quarter-on-quarter and 20.6 percent year-on-year, according to IDC Thailand. The first quarter of the year usually saw a decline in shipments due to seasonality, however, the COVID-19 pandemic has further caused disruptions to the market resulting in a further decline, the study shows.
