Huawei has unveiled plans to develop its cloud services based on artificial intelligence at its 'Huawei Connect' event in Shanghai. The company said it will build a global cloud network based on its own public clouds, as well as clouds built with partners, similar to airline alliances.
Huawei announced the launch of its new Enterprise Intelligence cloud services, which the company will provide in general and scenario-specific configurations. Driven by innovations in artificial intelligence, the new portfolio includes three types of cloud services and a heterogeneous computing platform.
The basic platform services include machine learning, deep learning and graph analysis platforms, alongside AI training, reasoning and indexing platforms. Customers have access to APIs for visual recognition, voice recognition and natural language, and Huawei works with partners to create solutions for specific industry needs in AI, cloud computing and IoT.
Huawei presented a number of case studies of businesses using its cloud services, such as a smart logistics system with intelligent packing and customs clearance optimisation or China Pacific Insurance Company, which uses the cloud platform to read and process customer claims. The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) also has been running workloads on the public cloud jointly developed by Huawei and Deutsche Telekom, and Orange Business Services CEO presented his company's progress on developing cloud services with Huawei.
Huawei supports public and private clouds, as well as hybrid cloud solutions that enable integration with third-party public cloud platforms, including Amazon and Microsoft. Huawei and Microsoft announced a memorandum of understanding at the conference to cooperate on bringing Microsoft applications to the Huawei Cloud. They will provide customers with hosting and enterprise applications as a service and conduct joint market expansion and marketing activities.
