Ice Norway in talks over spectrum use, lifts FY revenue
Access Industries unit Ice Norway is currently in talks with suppliers to determine the best use of its frequencies, Insidetelecom.no reported. Ice.net, which comes under Access Industries' AINMT Holding, gained spectrum in the December 2013 auction of frequencies in the 800 MHz band. Ice CEO Eivind Helgaker told Insidetelecom that it is indeed talking to suppliers to see what opportunities its frequencies can provide, and what a cooperation would mean for the company. The portal said Ice Norway also released figures showing a rise in revenue from NOK 292.7 million in 2012 to NOK 347.6 million in 2013. Insidetelecom said Ice last told regulator PT that it had 113,000 customers but the portal estimates this figure has now risen to around 125,000.

Telenor Norway says 4G grid covers 70% of population

Telenor Norway said it has now 1,200 new 4G base stations in place. The operator won frequencies in the 800 MHz auction in December 2013 and says 200 municipalities will get LTE on those frequencies before the summer holidays commence. Coverage director Bjorn Amundsen said coverage has risen from 52 percent of the population when Telenor started the deployment in March, to 70 percent currently.

Ice Norway to present plans at PT forum on 10 June

The Norwegian postal and telecoms regulator PT has presented the agenda for its seventh annual forum, which takes place on 10 June in Lillesand. It said Access Industries director Jorg Mohaupt and ICE.net CEO Eivind Helgaker will discuss Ice Norway's plans following its successful acquisition of mobile frequencies in the auction in December 2013. Their presentation is entitled: 'New kid in town - ICE.net: What to expect?' Ice belongs to Access Industries via AINMT Holding.

Access Industries' Ice Norway borrows NOK 1.5 bln

Access Industries subsidiary Ice.net has secured NOK 1.5 billion in loans to invest in high-speed mobile broadband services, according to Teknisk Ukeblad (TU) on its website. It gained spectrum in December's 800 MHz auction under the name Telco, and will work under the moniker Ice Communications.

Tele2 is in the process of evaluating a number of "strategic opportunities" for its Norwegian operations, the company announced. Access Industries is behind mystery Norway auction winner

Ukrainian-American billionaire Len Blavatnik's holding company Access Industries is the parent company of Telco Data, which won spectrum in the recent Norwegian mobile broadband auction, according to the Wall Street Journal, citing a statement from Access. Telco Data paid NOK 705 million for frequencies in the 800 MHz, 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands. Access Industries said Telco Data will offer services in close cooperation with its Norwegian mobile broadband provider Ice.net, but did not give any details.
