Iliad up to 4% of Italian SIMs in Q1, data consumption surges 55% - Agcom
The Italian mobile market added a total of 3.4 million lines in the 12 months to end of March 2019, due above all to a 4.7 million surge in M2M lines, which offset a 1.2 million decline in traditional human SIMs, according to the latest report from regulator Agcom corresponding to Q1 2019. Slightly under 70 percent of human SIMs used data traffic, up from 50 percent in 2015, with the average data consumed soaring by 55 percent year on year to 5.4 GB a month in the first quarter.

Wind Tre continued to lead the market of human SIMs at end-March with a 32.1 percent share, down 2.9 percent year on year, mainly as a result of the 4.0 percent market share reached by new entrant Iliad in its first 10 months of activity. TIM followed with 27.9 percent, down 0.7 percent, while Vodafone dropped 1.2 percent to reach 25.5 percent of the market. PosteMobile remained fourth with 4.9 percent, up 0.3 percent year on year, and other MVNOs accounted for 5.5 percent of the market, up 0.4 percent.

Counting M2M lines, TIM remained market leader with a 30.5 percent share, down 0.3 percent on year, followed by Vodafone and Wind Tre, with 29.1 percent and 28.9 percent, down 1.1 percent and 1.9 percent respectively, PosteMobile with 3.9 percent and Iliad with 3.2 percent.

The Italian mobile market added 0.5 million lines in the 12 months to end of September 2019, reaching a total of 101.4 million thanks mainly to a 3.3 million surge in M2M lines, which offset a 2.7 million fall in traditional human SIMs, according to the latest report from regulator Agcom corresponding to Q3 2019. Iliad Italia claiming EUR 500 mln damages for Vodafone MNP delays

Iliad Italia has lodged a complaint before a Milan civil court requesting EUR 500 million in compensation from Vodafone Italia for delays in processing mobile number portability (MNP) requests and misleading advertising, reports news agency Radiocor. The damages claim relates to backlogs at many Italian operators last summer in view of the sheer number of users switching contracts following the arrival of Iliad at the end of May 2018, with Vodafone allegedly exceeding the 3-day limit to process MNP requests

Italian MVNO PosteMobile has temporarily reduced the price of its 'Creami Extra Wow Business' plan, part of its 'Creami' ('Create Me') range of flexible tariffs, in a summer promo. The bundle comes with unlimited credits for use on calls and SMS, plus 50GB of mobile data at 4G speeds for EUR 8.99 per month, instead of EUR 9.99, when acquired online until 07 August. Italian MVNO PosteMobile up to 4.2 mln SIMs

The Italian post office (Poste Italiane) reported that its PosteMobile MVNO passed the milestone of 4 million SIMs over the past year, reaching 4.2 million at the end of March, up from 3.9 million a year earlier. In its first quarter results presentation, the post office said its "Payments, Mobile and Digital" segment posted revenues of EUR 140 million in the January to March period, up 7.3 percent year on year, with EBITDA coming in at EUR 63 million and telecommunications revenues flat at EUR 52 million.

Mobile prices in Italy have fallen to among the cheapest in Western Europe, according to the latest research by Telecompaper. Iliad Italia launches with 30GB plan for EUR 6 a month

French operator Iliad has launched its Italian mobile operation under the Iliad brand, promising to revolutionise the market with an offer of 30GB of 4G+ data, plus unlimited calls and SMS for EUR 5.99 a month.
