Inea opens up network to UPC Poland

Polish cable operator Inea will provide wholesale services under the BSA (Bit Stream Access) module to cable operator UPC Poland. They have signed an agreement on access to fibre-optic networks deployed under the framework of the operational programme Digital Poland (POPC).

Services from UPC Poland will become available for customers residing in households connected to fibre networks deployed under the first and the second POPC rounds.

UPC Poland's network now covers more than 3.5 million households in the country. The cooperation with Inea will enable UPC Poland to expand its services.

Inea has recently signed a similar agreement with T-Mobile Poland. This operator will be able to provide its services over the fibre network deployed by Inea under the framework of the second POPC round. Around 110,000 households are currently passed and the figure is expected to be raised to 160,000.

It is possible that Inea will conclude similar agreements with other operators, too.

UPC Poland has not provided its services on networks deployed by other companies before. The exact timing of the launch of its services on the Inea network has not been specified yet.
