Intel revenues up 44% year-on-year in Q1
Intel reported first-quarter revenues of USD 10.3 billion, down 3 percent sequentially but up 44 percent from the year-earlier period. Compared to the fourth quarter, PC Client group revenue was flat, Data Center group revenue fell 8 percent and Atom revenue declined 19 percent. The average selling price for microprocessors increased slightly, although excluding Atom products, the ASP was flat. Operating profit of USD 3.4 billion was up 38 percent from the previous quarter and 433 percent year-on-year, and net profit of USD 2.4 billion jumped 7 percent from Q4 and 288 percent from a year ago. Intel forecast second-quarter revenues of USD 10.2 billion, plus or minus USD 400 million, and a gross margin of around 64 percent. The chipmaker also raised its outlook for the full-year gross margin to 64 percent from 61, as well as increasing estimated costs this year to USD 12.4 billion from USD 11.8 billion.
