Inwi signs up 1 million mobile customers in 4 months

Moroccan fixed and mobile operator Inwi, formerly known as Wana, signed up 1 million mobile customers by the end of June, four months after launching its GSM service. This takes Inwi's total customer base to around 4 million, according to the operator, which attributes the rapid take-up of its mobile offer to per-second billing from the first second, identical tariffs for calls to any Moroccan network 24/7, and the possibility for customers to use their SIM card for prepaid BlackBerry services, unlimited mobile internet and MSN messaging. Around 16 percent of GSM customers' ARPU now comes from value-added services.
