J:Com to deploy Motorola's Docsis 3.0 system
Japanese cable operator Jupiter Telecommunications (J:Com) will deploy Motorola's Docsis 3.0-based BSR 64000 Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS)/Edge Router and SURFboard SB6120 cable modems. Using Motorola's Docsis 3.0 system J:COM can provide subscribers access to enhanced internet services while maintaining uninterrupted support of existing operations and working with currently deployed Docsis 1.x and 2.0 cable modems. The Motorola Docsis 3.0-based CMTS channel bonding system is able to support channel bonding with a software-only upgrade. Channel bonding technology allows cable operators to deliver greater than 100 Mbps of broadband throughput to residential subscribers without the need for a hybrid fiber coax (HFC) plant upgrade. The cable modems are capable of delivering up to 160Mbps throughput to residential and commercial ultra-broadband service customers. The deployment allows J:Com to deliver accelerated personal media experiences including fast internet services in the Japanese broadband market.
