Jamaican mobile lines fall 5% to 3.1 mln in 2017

Jamaica's mobile customer base fell 5.3 percent year on year to 3.09 million at the end of 2017, according to the latest quarterly report from the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR). The vast majority of subscriptions – 94 percent – remain prepaid, said the report, adding that total internet accesses also fell, by more than 9 percent year on year, to 1.61 million at the end of Q4 2017, some 1.41 million of which corresponded to mobile plans.
