James Murdoch steps down as chairman of BSkyB
British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) announced that James Murdoch has stepped down as chairman, but will continue to serve in his capacity as a non-executive director of the company. He will be replaced as BSkyB chairman by deputy chairman Nicholas Ferguson. Tom Mockridge has been appointed as deputy chairman. Andrew Higginson, who has been a director of BSkyB since September 2004, succeeds Nicholas Ferguson as senior independent non-executive director. In a statement, Murdoch said that interest in past events at News International should not undermine the interests of BSkyB.
