
Japanese mobile operators add 1.35 mln customers in March

Over March, Japanese mobile operators added 1.35 million new customers to reach a combined total of 102.72 million, according to figures from the Telecommunications Carrier Association (TCA). Softbank led in net additions, signing up 543,900 new subscribers and ending the month with 18.59 million. Softbank is followed by KDDI which added 500,500 new customers, comprising 543,100 new au subscribers while shedding 42,600 Tu-Ka customers. KDDI ended March with 30.11 million au customers and 234,100 Tu-Ka customers, bringing the company's total to 30.34 million. NTT DoCoMo saw its customer base rise to 53.39 million after adding 173,700 new subscribers, which included 10,500 2in1 plan customers. Emobile won 130,200 new subscribers bringing its total to 411,500 customers in total. PHS provider Willcom gained 18,400 PHS subscribers to end the month with 4.62 million.
