Jazztel to launch 4G services this year on Orange network
Spanish operator Jazztel has confirmed that it will be launching 4G services later this year, thus becoming one of the first Spanish MVNOs to offer high-speed mobile broadband on an LTE network. In an interview with EFE, Jazztel’s CEO Jose Miguel Garcia said that the operator was currently working with Orange Spain to complete the work needed to launch 4G services. “We will have 4G offers this year,” he said. In November Jazztel renewed its wholesale agreement to use Orange’s network for another four years and the companies said at the time that 4G services would be launched as soon as possible. Garcia added that, under Spanish law, MVNOs “must be given the opportunity to access all retail offerings available in the marketplace, including 4G.” Another Spanish MVNO, Pepephone, recently announced that it was abandoning Vodafone Spain’s network to move to that of Yoigo, having become frustrated by Vodafone’s inability or refusal to offer 4G services.

Jazztel’s CEO also confirmed that the company was pressing ahead with its FTTH deployment. The company has already reached 1.2 million households and is on schedule to extend coverage to 3 million households by 2017.
