Jolla brings smartphone to Nambia with TN Mobile, LexConsult
Jolla, distribution company LexConsult, and mobile operator Telecom Namibia have announced the launch of the Jolla smartphone in Namibia, exclusively through TN Mobile. The Finnish smartphone runs on the open and independent mobile operating system Sailfish OS. The smartphone will be sold online and in stores. This is Jolla's first distribution agreement in Africa.

Jolla announced its first licensing agreement for the Sailfish mobile operating system, with Indian manufacturer Intex Technologies. Intex is expected to launch the first phones from the agreement late this year. Jolla announced plans to split into two companies - one making mobile devices and the other focused on licensing its Sailfish operating system. The company Jolla Ltd will continue as the development and licensing business for Sailfish, and a new company will be established to continue Jolla's device business making smartphones and tablets. Jolla offers Sailfish licence, to launch secure OS

Jolla announced plans to build a 'secure' version of its Sailfish operating system for mobile services, tapping into the growing concern for private communications.
