Juniper to demonstrate 100G core-to-edge network
Network equipment manufacturer Juniper Networks will demonstrate a standards-based 100G core-to-edge network, powered by the new Juniper Networks T4000 Core Router and the MX3D Series Universal Edge Router. With the T4000 and the MX series, both powered by Junos Trio technology, the network demonstration will highlight the levels of performance and capacity. Juniper's T4000 Core Router more than doubles the per slot capacity from 100G to 240G in every existing T640 and T1600 chassis. Upgrading from T640 and T1600 to T4000 can be done with non-disruptive in-service upgrades with multichassis features architected into the system. In addition, the T4000 is designed for power efficiency. T4000 features 2.7 watts of power per Gigabit of processed traffic. Juniper's MX3D edge routers address enterprise and service provider requirements for technology and business models. MX3D routers deliver a 'universal edge' routing service for business, residential and mobile services on a single network. The T4000 will be available in H2 2011. The company's MX3D Series Universal Edge Routers are currently available and with 100GE interfaces it will be available in 2011. Juniper will showcase a live demonstration of the network running on the Junos operating system during Supercomputing 2010, an international conference on high-performance computing, networking, storage and analysis, being held 15-19 November in New Orleans.
