Kakao unveils AI-based Kakao Mini smart speaker
South Korean mobile messenger operator Kakao has showcased its smart speaker, dubbed ‘Kakao Mini’. The device will be commercially available across the country later this month, Yonhap news agency reports. The Kakao Mini will include the ‘Kakao I’ artificial intelligence platform, along with voice recognition and software that can understand natural languages.

The Kakao Mini features four microphones to capture users' speech. As the device can connect to other speakers via Bluetooth, customers will be able to use features of the Kakao Mini through other premium audio systems as well. The speaker also connects to the KakaoTalk messenger, allowing users to check and send messages. The device automatically updates software to continuously provide users with new features, Kakao added.

Preorders for the Kakao Mini are scheduled for launch in South Korea later in September.
