
Kazakhstan national operator Kazakhtelecom has stopped negotiations with Telia on the acquisition of the mobile operator Kcell, reports Cnews.ru citing a source in the telecommunications market. The companies weren't able to reach an agreement on the price.
Kcell has around 10 million subscribers. Fintur owns a 51 percent stake in the company. Telia owns 58.55 percent stake in Fintur, and Turkcell owns the rest. Telia also owns a 24 percent stake in Kcell directly. The Russian-Kazakhstan fund Freedom Finance owns a 9 percent stake in Kcell.
