KCC to impose new suspensions on SK Telecom, LG U+

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) expects to impose another business suspension on mobile carriers SK Telecom and LG U+ for offering illegal subsidies on smartphones, Korean Joongang Daily reports. The sanctions are likely to be effective during June, according to the report. SK Telecom, KT and LG U+ have already finished their 45-day business suspensions imposed by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning. In March, the KCC voted to ban SK Telecom from attracting new subscriber for seven days and LG U+ for 14 days because they offered illegal subsidies and overheated the market. The regulator also said it would fine the top three mobile carriers KRW 30.4 billion won each.
