KDDI deploys LTE core network from Hitachi and Nortel
Japanese mobile operator KDDI will deploy a LTE network using a core networking platform from Hitachi collaborating with Nortel. The LTE network from Hitachi and Nortel will provide an overlay to the existing 3G CDMA mobile network, enabling access to bandwidth-intense multimedia content and applications for KDDI's mobile consumers and business users. KDDI's LTE core network includes the deployment of an Evolved Packet Core from Hitachi, featuring Nortel's ATCA-based access gateway as a Mobility Management Entity, as well as an upgrade to KDDI's existing operation, management and provisioning system.
