KKR comes forth as possible buyer of Telenor ops in Serbia - report

Serbian daily Politika has reported that US investment fund KKR may be the possible buyer of Telenor's operations in Serbia and the region. KKR already owns United Group, a regional DTH and cable TV operator, whose Serbian assets include cable operator SBB, DTH platform Total TV and thematic TV channels N1, Ultra, Grand, Sport Klub, Cinemanija and Ultra. With the acquisition of Telenor, United Group would be able to provide quadruple-play services in Serbia, as it already offers fixed telephony, cable TV and internet. 

Telenor has around 3 million mobile subscribers in Serbia.

At the end of the week, the Financial Times broke a story of resumed merger talks between Vodafone (-2.7%) and Liberty Global. The former put out a release, after the close of the market, confirming the talks and Liberty Global (+0.8%) was among the few telecoms shares ending the week in the black. CityFibre (-7.8%) may have suffered from the market questioning whether the FTTH agreement& with Vodafone will come under pressure, should the talks lead to a merger of Vodafone UK and Virgin Media.

Telenor Broadcast Q4 revenue and EBITDA boosted by Canal Digital

Telenor lifted revenue and EBITDA at its Broadcast division in the fourth quarter of 2017, thanks largely to its Canal Digital arm. Total revenue increased to NOK 1.52 billion from NOK 1.50 billion a year earlier and total EBITDA went up to NOK 451 million from NOK 446 million.

Telenor Denmark lifts Q4 revenue and mobile subscribers in competitive market

Telenor said its turnaround programme in Denmark resulted in a performance improvement in 2017, in a market that continues to be very competitive. Revenue increased, and it lifted its number of mobile subscribers. Higher handset sales offset lower fixed revenues, it said.

Telenor Sweden lifts Q4 revenue, has higher EBITDA on lower opex

Telenor Sweden said it had a strong fourth quarter, with continued revenue growth combined with more cost reductions.  It said operating expenditure decreased 7 percent organically, mainly thanks to fewer workers, a cut in retail sales points and lower commissions. EBITDA increased to NOK 1.07 billion from a restated NOK 615 million a year earlier.

Telenor Norway Q4 revenue and EBITDA rise, mobile and fixed broadband users fall

Telenor Norway reported growth in revenue and EBITDA year on year in the fourth quarter of 2017, although total fixed revenues were lower, including wholesale revenue. Mobile and fixed broadband subscribers fell from the third quarter.
