KKR to buy Pink channels in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro - report

US investment fund KKR has agreed to buy the national TV channels Pink in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro from Serbian businessman Zeljko Mitrovic, reports Danas. Mitrovic is set to hold a meeting with directors of his regional channels on 24 April to discuss the plans. KKR Group already owns United Media, a leading quadruple-play operator in the countries of the former Yugoslavia. It also operates several thematic TV channels including N1, a CNN affiliate.

Southeast Europe media company United Media has acquired Pink BH and Pink M, national television channels in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, for an undisclosed sum. From this autumn, the two channels will broadcast all the matches of the national football teams of both countries, within the newly-formed UEFA Nations League competition.

The Council of Montenegro's Agency for Electronic Media has cleared the change in ownership at Pink M Company, which owns national commercial broadcaster TV Pink. The previous owner, Serbia-based Pink International Company, has transferred a 100 percent stake to Direct Media from Belgrade, Serbia.

Bankers believe that the sale should generate significant interest from buyout firms because of the company's strong management team, breadth of offerings and subscriber growth. At the end of March, United Group's network passed 1.79 million homes and the company had 3.62 million customers, while annual revenue totalled EUR 539.7 million.

United Media to acquire Direct Media in Serbia

United Media has submitted a request to the Serbian Competition Commission for the purchase of 100 percent stake in advertising agency Direct Media on the markets of Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Albania, reports Beta. The company also requested the approval for the purchase of terrestrial TV stations Pink BiH (in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Pink Montenegro (in Montenegro).
