Kogan Mobile launches prepay brand in New Zealand with Vodafone
Australian online retailer Kogan.com has launched its prepay mobile services brand ‘Kogan Mobile’ in New Zealand. Kogan Mobile  is powered by the Vodafone New Zealand network. Kogan Mobile will provide unlimited voice calls and SMS to New Zealand and Australia as standard on all voice plans, data inclusions, and annual prepay payment options. 

New Zealand customers will be able to choose from 30, 90 and 365 day prepay options. Kogan Mobile also offers international calls to 44 destinations, and international roaming to 56 destinations. All prepay options include unlimited standard calls and texts to New Zealand and Australia. Kogan Mobile customers will be able to choose from data inclusions of 1.5GB, 4GB, 15GB or 32GB valid for 30 days.

Prepay plans are available for a starting price of 44 NZD cents per day for Kogan Mobile’s Small plan. This tariff includes unlimited standard calls and SMS to New Zealand and Australia, 1.5GB for data traffic within New Zealand for 30 days. 

Kogan Mobile’s Extra Large plan is available from NZD 1.15 per day, and offers unlimited standard calls and SMS to New Zealand and Australia, with 32GB of data for use within New Zealand for the equivalent of NZD 34.90 per 30 days when users sign up for a full year.

Kogan Mobile is an online only service. Customers can control their Kogan Mobile prepay services online at accounts.koganmobile.co.nz, with access to additional add-on offerings. Customers can activate add-ons such as roaming to 56 destinations from NZD 11.90 for 3 days (choice of 700MB roaming data, OR 500MB roaming data, 100 minutes of calls, and 100 texts); 300 minutes of international calls to 44 destinations for NZD 9.90 for 30 days.

Customers can also take up data add-on packs ranging from 300MB (NZD 4.90 for 30 days) to 3GB (NZD 21.90 for 30 days). SIM cards can be purchased from NZD 2 directly from Kogan.com, which are delivered in the post afterwards.

As a special launch offer, Kogan Mobile is offering up its highest inclusion plan for NZD 4.90 which provides 32GB of data, unlimited standard calls and texts to New Zealand and Australia, for 30 days until the end of September. All Kogan Mobile prepay deals can be accessed at the Koganmobile website and Kogan Mobile SIM cards can be purchased from Kogan website for NZD 2. 

Kogan Mobile launched on the Vodafone network in Australia in 2015. Kogan.com recently announced that its Kogan Mobile unit saw its active customer base jump 24.4 percent year-on-year in the year ended 30 June 2019, while its commission-based revenues grew by 9.8 percent. Kogan Mobile went live in 2016, and currently serves around 20 million users across Australia. The company offers prepay mobile phone plans available online using Vodafone’s mobile network in Australia.

Back in 2016, Kogan listed on the stock market, with a market capitalisation of AUD 168 million. The company sold 30 percent of its shares to institutional shares, at a price of AUD 1.80 per share, raising AUD 50 million in the IPO.

MVNO Kogan also launched a white-label smartphone, the Agora 6 Plus. The phone went on sale in 2016 in Australia for AUD 349. The Android 6.0 device featured a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display, 21MP camera with Sony sensor and octa-core Helio P10 processor. It included a fingerprint sensor, NFC, 3 GB RAM, 32GB of storage (expandable by up to 128GB via MicroSD), LTE and dual Sim slots.
