KPN, partners open 4G Lab

KPN has introduced its 4G Lab, a partnership of companies and organisations looking to develop, test and roll out new applications for 4G. Participants include High Tech Campus Eindhoven, Ericsson, Huawei, IBM, TNO, SURFnet and Sanoma. They will work together to develop new applications, launch pilot projects and share best practices. KPN gave some examples of applications that would take full advantage of 4G speeds, citing broadcasters able to show live video images from anywhere, ambulances directly connected to hospitals via broadband, or employees en route able to communicate in real time via the corporate network.
