KPN raises bid for iBasis

Dutch operator KPN has increased its buy-out bid for US-based carrier services provider iBasis, to USD 2.25 per share from USD 1.55. iBasis had already rejected the first bid as too low and taken measures to block the buy-out. KPN already holds 56 percent of iBasis. The new bid values the remaining 44 percent at USD 70.0 million. The public bid runs until 23 October. KPN said it will also continue to fight the posion-pill measures introduced by iBasis, with a court hearing on the issue scheduled for 9 October.
