KPN will continue the same distribution model, offering Fox Sports as a premium channel. It was under pressure from the broadcaster to add a channel to its basic package, but KPN said this would have led to an increase in prices for all customers.
Despite the previous carriage agreement expiring 01 August and KPN pursuing a court order against Fox, the channels remained available to KPN customers throughout the dispute and the start of the football season. Fox also remained on air at a number of smaller TV and cable providers that also were up for renewal on their carriage agreements.
On 05 August Fox had threatened to turn off the channels for KPN if a new deal was not reached. A spokesman said a new offer was made to KPN that night. All the TV providers were offered the same terms, according to Fox.
