LambdaNet provides VPN to Minimax
LambdaNet Communications Deutschland AG, a 3U TELECOM AG subsidiary and one of the leading alternative network operators both in Germany and in Europe, will provide a Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution for the German company Minimax Group. The 36-month service agreement, worth approximately 1.2 million Euro, covers 32 Minimax sites in Germany and Austria. Using MPLS technology, the new VPN solution will not only eliminate current bandwidth shortages, but will also optimize interconnection between Minimax sites, communication to the company HQ and to the Internet while generating major cost savings. The new, state-of-the-art IP-VPN is based on MPLS infrastructure and will replace the Frame Relay data network previously used by Minimax. It will be mainly used for “internal communication”, including applications such as SAP, email and data services. Both external and internal customers of Minimax will thus benefit from improved communication service as well as from optimized service quality. Elimination of bandwidth bottlenecks due to the use of MPLS technology will provide customers with increased flexibility. „LambdaNet Communications Deutschland offers not only highly professional services, but also the best price-performance ratio as a Carrier’s Carrier“, explains Mr Milhan, IT Director of Minimax, his selection of the Hanover-based network operator. „The modular service connection, combined with flexible service charge models, will allow us to achieve major cost savings when compared to other solutions”. Scalable transmission capacities and high operational availability make sure that the network can be used flexibly by the end users. Minimax Group requires just one connection per site to connect to the VPN, allowing the company to establish a closed network infrastructure that can easily and quickly be upgraded according to current user requirements. LambdaNet Communications Deutschland will provide full VPN network management. Minimax Group will use 2 Mbps links to connect the sites. Backup solutions based on DSL and ISDN will ensure utmost availability. 10 Mbps connections are provided for connection to the Internet. Depending on case-by-case requirements, LambdaNet is able to offer customers all current types of xDSL services ranging from 2 to 1,000 Mbps.
