Latvian operators to pay EUR 13 mln for 700 MHz bands for 5G

Latvian mobile operators will pay EUR 13.3 million for rights to use the 700 MHz frequency bands for 5G services, according to a statement from the national public services regulator SPRK. LMT will pay EUR 5.758 million, Tele2 Latvia EUR 4.655 million and Bite Latvia EUR 2.860 million for the licences valid until 31 January 2042.

Under the first phase of the tender, carried out on 16 December, LMT acquired the blocks 713-723 MHz and 768-778 MHz for EUR 3.523 million, Tele2 Latvia purchased the 703-713 MHz and 758-768 MHz bands for EUR 2.420 million, and Bite Latvia acquired the 723-733 MHz and 778-788 MHz blocks for EUR 2.860 million.

In the second phase, carried out on 16 and 17 December, LMT acquired the 748-758 MHz band for EUR 2.235 million, and Tele2 Latvia purchased the 738-748 MHz band for EUR 2.235 million.
