Lenovo becomes top PC maker in Q2

Lenovo moved into the top position in the global PC market in the second quarter, as the Chinese manufacturer outperformed a contracting market. Overall PC shipments were down 10.9 percent year-on-year to 76 million units, according to Gartner, while IDC put the fall at 11.4 percent to 75.4 million units. Lenovo's shipments fell only around 1 percent, helping its market share improve to 16.7 percent, according to both market researchers' estimates. HP also won market share, growing to an estimated 16.3-16.4 percent, and Dell improved to 11.8-12.2 percent, depending on the estimates. Acer was
