Lenovo LatAm chief to also lead EMEA region

Lenovo announced that Luca Rossi, currently President of Lenovo's business in Latin America, will succeed Eric Cador as President of the company's business in Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMEA). Moving forward Rossi will lead both Latin America and EMEA. 

Cador is leaving Lenovo on 10 May and will return to his consulting business. In a post on LinkedIn, he said his departure was due to "strategic disagreements". Cador held the role for only a year, having joined Lenovo from HP last year. 

Prior to joining Lenovo in 2015 Rossi was EMEA President for Acer, following various roles over a six-year period for the company. Before Acer, Luca was General Manager for Asus Europe after successfully founding and running a system integrator business in Italy for 11 years.

Lenovo Q4 revenues fall 19% after drop in smartphone sales

Lenovo reported revenues for its fiscal fourth quarter to March down 19 percent year-on-year to USD 9.133 billion, as the company suffered from the slowdown in the PC market and falling mobile phone sales. Operating profit still improved, by 95 percent to USD 248 million, thanks to restructuring and cost-cutting efforts, and net profit was up 80 percent to USD 180 million. Lenovo to manufacture enterprise, DC products in Hungary

Lenovo will begin manufacturing enterprise products for EMEA customers in Europe at partner Flex's Hungarian facility. The products that will be manufactured there include x86 servers and the full range of storage and networking products for the data centre environment. The decision to move manufacturing to Europe was based on the benefits arising from establishing production closer to Lenovo's core customer and partner base. A Flex facility in Hungary, dedicated to Lenovo, will produce the full x86 range.

Lenovo creates Capital and Incubator Group

Lenovo has launched the Lenovo Capital and Incubator Group (LCIG). The entity seeks to integrate Lenovo's global resources, enhance its internet services and intelligence ecosystem via investments and boost innovation within and outside of Lenovo, the company said. Lenovo chief of technology Peter Hortensius will fully move into his new role, leading technology and strategy for the company's new Data Center Group, on 1 April, while former CTO and current head of Lenovo Capital and Investment Group (LCIG) George He will become acting CTO while the company searches for a permanent leader in that role.
