Less than two-thirds of Dutch households have fixed telephony as another 104,000 lines lost in Q1

Tuesday 23 June 2020 | 08:00 CET | News
The fall in consumer fixed-line subscriptions in the Netherlands showed no signs of slowing in Q1, despite more people at home due to the coronavirus outbreak. The number of fixed telephony lines dropped by 104,000 in the three months and was down by 6.6 percent year-on-year to 5.25 million, according to the latest research by Telecompaper. With more people going mobile-only and embracing OTT communication apps, the fixed telephony market is expected to contract further, losing around 2 million lines in the next five years.
