LG Electronics applied for the most LTE-related patents in the US. Of the 187 LTE essential patents applied for to the US Patent and Trademark Office by Q2, LG had more applications than other players, Yonhap writes citing a report by TechIPm. Nokia ranked second, followed by Samsung Electronics. LG declined to confirm the number of its LTE patents, but said it plans to expand sales of its LTE smartphones to twenty countries by the end of year, from the current ten.
