LG Optimus LTE exceeds 1 mln unit sales
LG Electronics has seen sales of its Optimus LTE smartphone exceed 1 million units. The HD LTE smartphone is currently available in the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. First launched in Korea in October 2011, the Optimus LTE hit sales of 600,000 units there in the first three months. On the first day of its launch in Japan, the Optimus LTE also recorded sales of 8,500 units.

LG profits improve in Q1, despite further sales drop

LG Electronics reported a continued fall in revenues in the first quarter, but improved its profits thanks to cost reductions and a better product mix. The Korean company posted sales of KRW 12.23 trillion, down 7.1 percent from a year earlier, while operating profit jumped to KRW 448 billion from KRW 131 billion. LG returns handset business to profit

LG Electronics reported fourth-quarter sales of KRW 13.81 trillion, down 6.0 percent from a year earlier but up 7.1 percent from the third quarter. The Mobile Communications division led the annual drop in sales, falling 17.9 percent from a year earlier to KRW 2.775 trillion. However, the mobile division had a sharp turnaround in operating profit, moving to a positive KRW 12 billion from a loss of KRW 261 billion a year ago. This helped the total operating result at LG improve to a profit of KRW 23 billion
