Liberty Global in talks to buy Intel TV service - report

Liberty Global is in talks to buy an online pay-TV service currently in development at Intel, Bloomberg reported, citing sources with knowledge of the situation. Talks are at an early stage yet, and could still break apart. The system would be for use outside of the US. Sources said last month that Verizon Communications had been in talks to buy the Intel project. Intel said in February that it wanted to start service this year from its OnCue product, designed to give consumers access to content across TV sets, smartphones and mobile devices. The company then decided to scale back its involvement in the pay-TV project and to seek partners with a base of internet subscribers or rights to films and television shows, another source said in September.
