Liberty Global inks IT service partnership deal with Kapsch

Liberty Global said it has signed a strategic partnership with the Vienna-based technology company Kapsch. Under the agreement, Liberty Global will transfer its Austrian IT services unit to Kapsch, including around 70 employees. Kapsch will provide IT services to Liberty Global and ensure business continuity for key IT services, network management and service delivery functions. 

The sale follows Liberty Global's exit from the Austrian market in 2018, when it sold cable operator UPC Austria to T-Mobile.

From May, the brands T-Mobile Austria and UPC will disappear from the market following their merger, reports Der Standard. On 06 May, T-Mobile Austria will introduce its new branding in the form of a magenta letter "T", indicating that it belongs to the Deutsche Telekom group. On the occasion of the rebranding, a new product portfolio will be presented.

Liberty Global has reached an agreement to sell its DTH satellite TV operations in four Eastern European markets to M7 Group. Liberty Global will sell its DTH operations for a total enterprise value of approximately EUR 180 million, subject to customary debt and working capital adjustments at completion. Closing of the transaction is subject to regulatory approval, which is expected in the first half of 2019. The plan to sell the satellite TV operations was announced at the beginning of November.

The operational figures for the second quarter of UPC Austria, whose merger with T-Mobile Austria became effective on 01 August, is reported under discontinued European operations of Liberty Global. Liberty Global completes sale of UPC Austria, plans proceeds for share buyback programme

Liberty Global has completed the previously announced sale of UPC Austria to T-Mobile Austria for an enterprise value of EUR 1.9 billion. The price is equal to nearly 11x UPC Austria's 2017 adjusted operating cash flow. The proceeds, after taking into account the repayment of debt attributed to UPC Austria, will be approximately EUR 900 million.
