
Lucent Technologies announced has signed an extension of the frame agreement with Telekomunikacja Polska for delivery and installation of Lucent switching and access solutions. The extended agreement is worth 30 million euro.
"We want to constantly offer our customers new products and services based on a modern voice and data network, with various options to choose from, depending on their needs", said Tadeusz Gruca, director of Telekomunikacja Polska's Network Department. "The solutions we are purchasing from Lucent under the agreement are reliable and scalable, and enable us to flexibly grow and modernize the network and thus quickly react to our customers' demands."
Under the terms of the agreement, TP has the option to purchase products and services from Lucent's switching and access portfolio to carry out the network digitalization, as well as to provide modern voice and data services to its subscribers. Lucent will be delivering its AnyMedia® access systems manufactured at its facility located in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
"We are extremely pleased to continue working with TP on modernizing its network so that it can support wide variety of modern services to TP subscribers," said Andrzej Dulka, INS sales director for Lucent in Poland. "We are especially proud that our universal AnyMedia® access systems, which will be used by TP for providing voice and data services, including its Neostrada broadband access service offered throughout the country, are manufactured in Poland."
The Bydgoszcz manufacturing operations plant was purchased by Lucent in 1992 and started manufacturing AnyMedia® access systems at the beginning of 2000. Today the Lucent factory in Bydgoszcz assembles and tests products such as the 5ESS® switch and AnyMedia® Access systems, which are delivered to Lucent customers across Europe. According to the Poland's IT magazine's annual report, Computerworld TOP 200, Lucent is the largest telecom equipment manufacturer in Poland.
