Lycamobile launches in France
UK-based international MVNO Lycamobile has launched in France, its 14th country since it went into business in the Netherlands in 2006. Lycamobile later entered the markets of Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Australia, Germany, Poland and Ireland. The MVNO, with currently 6.5 million acquired customers, plans to invest EUR 150 million over the long term, according to its chairman, Subaskaran Allirajah. In its newest market, Lycamobile is offering its "Pay as you go Sim" product with 600 minutes for customers who put at least EUR 30 credit in their account. The minutes can be used for on-net, national landline and international landline communications. Lycamobile charges EUR 0.05 per minute for calls to landlines and EUR 0.12 per minute to mobiles in France, with no connection charge. International rates start at EUR 0.01 per minute with a EUR 0.09 call connection fee. Lycamobile's value-added services include data, USSD top-up and multi-party conference calling. The company said it planned to enter a number of new markets this year and next.
