Madrid Metro to get LTE coverage from 2018
Passengers throughout Madrid's underground rail network will have access to voice and data services over LTE from 2018, Expansion reported. The transport company has also said it will replace paper tickets with smartcards that can be topped up from Android phones.

LTE connections and Wi-Fi are currently available only on the newly-reopened Line 8 of the Metro system, and as part of a wider investment programme, Wi-Fi will be provided in centrally-located stations on the network. The publicly-owned company did not say which mobile operator will provide connectivity on its trains.
