Makedonski Telekom CEO to step down in July

Andreas Elsner, the CEO of Makedonski Telekom, will leave the company as of 1 July, the Macedonian operator announced. He has held the position since May 2017. Eisner joined the company in 2014 to lead the Customer Relationship & Customer Experience Management Department, and soon after, in 2015 he became COO Consumer.

No announcement was made on Elsner's replacement. The news follows a report that Deutsche Telekom is considering selling its stake in Makedonski Telekom, and the management will be placed in order to prepare the company for sale.

Nikola Ljushev will take over the position of CEO of Makedonski Telekom as of 1 July. He has extensive experience in top-level management positions at Deutsche Telekom Group, Cosmofon and Telekom Austria Group. In the past year he was the CEO of Crnogorski Telekom, the Montenegro operator also controlled by Deutsche Telekom.

Deutsche Telekom may exit Macedonia market - report

Deutsche Telekom is seriously considering leaving the Macedonian market, sources close to Makedonski Telekom told Lider.com.mk, due to disagreements with the government. The source claims that the government has consistently interfered in operations and decision-making, while public procurement procedures have allegedly favored companies close to the government. The planned takeover of Sprint in the US is also causing DT to rethink its other operations, the report said.
