Mascom Wireless introduces 3G services in Botswana
Botswana mobile operator Mascom Wireless has introduced 3G and 3.5G services in Botswana. The firm's CMO Dzene Makhwade-Seboni said the company has invested BWP 50 million to upgrade its network for the service, which will initially be available in the greater Gaborone area. Makhwade-Seboni said the service, which comes almost a year after the company launched EDGE services in the country, will enable subscribers to enjoy high-speed internet connections. Mascom COO Richard Luz said Mascom will expand the network to Francistown in the next few months before extending the service to other urban areas. Mascom Wireless is finalising plans to introduce roaming services to South Africa to allow South African visitors to do data roaming within Mascom's network when in the country.
