Mattrick steps down as Zynga CEO, replaced by Pincus
Social game developer Zynga, best known for its Farmville game, has announced that Don Mattrick is to step down as its CEO, to be replaced by former chief executive and company founder Mark Pincus. In a statement, the company confirmed that Mattrick is leaving Zynga and its board of directors after less than two years as CEO. Industry veteran Mattrick was previously head of the interactive entertainment business at Microsoft, joining Zynga in July 2013. Pincus founded Zynga in 2007 and pioneered the social gaming industry with titles such as Farmville and more recently Empires & Allies and Dawn of Titans.
