Mexico regulators green light AT&T acquisition of Time Warner

AT&T announced that Mexico's telecommunications watchdog IFT and competition regulator COFECE have approved its acquisition of Time Warner, first announced in October 2016. In a statement, AT&T said the two companies still expect the USD 85.4 billion deal to close by the end of the year even though it's currently under review by the US Department of Justice and competition authorities in other foreign countries. In that regard, Brazilian regulators have expressed concern about potential competitive risks in the country from the takeover in view of AT&T's ownership of pay-TV provider Sky
