Mexico to auction five new telephony licences
Mexico's telephony regulator and communications secretary have announced the auctioning of five new telecoms licences. In a statement, telecoms secretary Luis Tellez said a new band of frequencies would run on one of the systems of the suburban train from Chalco to Los Reyes, La Paz, in Mexico state. The first deadline for a licence will be announced in 45 days, said Tellez, with the others expected to follow in 180 days. He said no restrictions would be placed on the type of services operators can run using the frequencies, whether mobile or fixed.
