Microsoft and US games publisher Electronic Arts are considering a takeover of Japanese game maker Sega. According to the Asian Wall Street Journal both companies want to buy all or a part of Sega while this company is involved in merger discussion with another Japanese game maker: Sammy Corp. Shares in Sega soared after this announcement. Sega has been hurt by disappointing results of its consumer videogame operations, and growing competition especially in the US.
