Microsoft in talks to buy Yammer - report

Microsoft is in talks to acquire Yammer, operator of a social network for businesses, two people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Microsoft may pay more than USD 1 billion, and a deal may be reached as soon as 15 June, the report said. Adding Yammer would help Microsoft add social-networking tools to the software it offers corporate customers. Microsoft declined to comment on a potential deal. Yammer, started in 2008, is used by more than 200,000 companies, including Ford and eBay. It provides features for internal corporate use that are similar to those found on Facebook. The San Francisco startup was founded by David Sacks, the former chief operating officer at PayPal.
