Microsoft raises dividend, extends share buyback
Microsoft is raising its dividend and starting a new share buyback programme. The company's board of directors declared a quarterly dividend of USD 0.39 per share, reflecting an 8 percent increase over the previous quarter’s dividend.

The board also approved a new share repurchase programme authorising up to USD 40 billion in share repurchases. The programme has no expiration date. The company said that it is on track to complete its current USD 40 billion stock repurchase by the end of 2016.

Microsoft ended its last fiscal year in June with cash and short-term investments totaling USD 113.2 billion.
